The family's net worth was listed as $1.2 billion (over ₹10,000 crore) in the most recent version of the Hurun India list, which was published last year. This indicates that the Kumars have taken over as Bollywood's wealthiest family, a title formerly held by the Chopras and the Kapoors.

The Chopra family, who owns both Yash Raj Films and BR Films, is ranked second to the Kumars with a combined stated net worth of more than ₹8,000 crore. According to Forbes, Shah Rukh Khan's family is worth ₹7800 crore. With a combined net worth of a little over ₹2000 crore, the Kapoors, once the wealthiest movie family in India, are far down the list.

The wealthiest film families of South India

In the Telugu film business in India, where several large clans operate, such as the Akkineni-Daggubati family (which includes Nagrjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Venkatesh, and Rana Daggubati) and the Mega Family (the Konidea-Allu family, which includes Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, and Allu Arjun), some of the wealthiest film families in the country may be found. The Kumars' journey to billionaire status

Their patriarch Gulshan Kumar (Bhushan's father and Kishan's brother) was a fruit seller in Delhi only one generation earlier.
