Vashu Bhagnani Opens Up About Family Struggles Amid Bankruptcy Rumors: ‘People Thought I Couldn’t Afford Food’

Following the box office disaster of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, rumors started circulating that Vashu Bhagnani, a Bollywood director, had defaulted on payments to crew members and had sold a property to pay off his debts. Pooja Entertainment, Bhagnani's production company, was the subject of these rumors. On his YouTube channel Reviewron, Vashu refuted rumors of bankruptcy during a recent conversation with Ronak Kotecha, stating that he had redeveloped the structure rather than selling it.

People used to say that Vashu Bhagnani didn't have enough money to buy food, according to him

Vashu remembers remodeling his Juhu office, which made headlines. "They claimed I had to sell it off because I had gone bankrupt and didn't even have money to buy food," he stated. They said I had fled. I don't want to blame anyone for these rumors, but I have no idea how they got started. What bothers me is that you claim I went bankrupt, but what's wrong with me selling a property to make ends meet? I'm conducting business, not working. We went through the complete procedure, and even if we didn't pay, what did it matter?

He also said that individuals had begun to profit from the circumstance, saying, "Some claims they didn't get ₹10,000, others say they didn't get lakhs — why didn't you?" Nobody ever mentions that a man has paid crores to people, made 50 movies, and worked in the field for 27 years. You must have some argument on your side. "Vashu ji, if you don't pay me, I'll go to the media," a young woman told me over the phone a few days ago. I said, "Please go." This is a fresh chance for you. Despite the fact that she was asking for money for which I was not responsible. My family has experienced a great deal of hardship. What would happen next? We were curious about where we would go. People were chatting when we grabbed the newspaper, and something awful would happen. But we have never lied to anybody.

Following the failure of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in June of last year, a member of the crew, Ruchita Kamble, charged Pooja Entertainment, which is owned by Vashu and his son Jackky Bhagnani, with failing to pay her on schedule. Amid growing financial troubles, a Bollywood Hungama story later disclosed that the seven-story Mumbai office of the production banner had been sold off in order to pay off a debt of 250 crores.

Made with a low budget of ₹350 crore, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which starred Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and others in significant roles, was a box office flop, bringing in just ₹111.5 crore globally and failing to draw moviegoers to theaters.
