Kunal Kamra became embroiled in a new controversy due to his statements opposing Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in March. In a recent Instagram post, actress Swara Bhasker reiterated her support for the stand-up comedian, this time aiming at the popular call made by a Shiv Sena supporter who threatened Kunal during his statement that he was in Tamil Nadu.

Swara and Kunal Kamra

Swara posted a couple of photos of herself with Kunal. They were observed grinning in the photographs, indicating that they were in a light-hearted frame of mind. The image, which alluded directly to Kunal's reply to the threats made during the call, said, "Tamil Nadu kaise pahuchega bhai (How will you reach Tamil Nadu)?" The two also donned matching white ensembles.

Swara's caption included the following: "Someone once asked… 'TamilNadu kaisey pahunchega bhai?' (laughing face emoticon) Featuring the one and only @kuna_kamra." The article was geotagged in Tamil Nadu.

Many people responded to the article and its headline with laughing face emojis. "You reached swara ji congratulations," one said. "Haha, what a line!" And the manner in which that man delivered it was really amusing.

Concerning the call

The caller was heard using abusive language towards Kunal Kamra in a 53-second audio tape and threatening him with the same destiny as the Mumbai studio where he assaulted Mr Shinde. The caller responded, "Tamil Nadu kaise pahuchega bhai (How to reach Tamil Nadu now)?" when the comedian said that he was presently in Tamil Nadu. Then he said, "Talk to our sir, one minute." The call was then cut off.

At one of his performances, Kunal performed a spoof of the well-known Bollywood song Bholi Si Surat from the film Dil To Pagal Hai. Several FIRs were filed against him after he purportedly aimed this parody at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In the wake of the incident, Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, vandalized the location where the program was filmed, The Habitat.
