Aamir Khan's comments on Shah Rukh Khan's film Swades sparked a lot of controversy. The actor stated in a recent interview that he deemed Ashutosh Gowariker's film to be "very dull," which is why he turned it down. Aamir's remark has sparked a lot of discussion on the internet, with many people arguing that Swades is a masterwork of Indian cinema. Some have even suggested that they would be happy if his next movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, flopped.

What Did Aamir Say?

Aamir stated in a Zoom interview, "I found it very boring!" When he told me the entire tale, I told Ashu this. In fact, I'll tell you, when we were creating Lagaan, Ashu told me the tale. At the time, it was known as Kaveri Amma. That's what he said to me.

Fans of Shah Rukh are displeased

The internet began buzzing with reactions as soon as the interview was released. "Swades is the best film from Indian cinema. This section of a song from Swades has more meaning than all of Aamir's films," one remark on X (formerly Twitter) said. "Swades" imparts life's lessons through every conversation and scene.

Another fan commented, "I’ll be super happy when Sitare Zameen par flops. This guy has really gone too far in disrespecting SRK, especially since SRK supported his son's debut film and even attended the premiere (sic)."

Another fan chimed in, "Swades would’ve been super dull with Aamir. It’s Shah Rukh’s eyes - that subtle intensity, the feelings left unsaid - that bring Mohan Bhargav to life. That kind of magic is something the other guy could never pull off."

A fan remarked, "Swades is still so relevant and has such a significant impact on cinema. Aamir wouldn't have done what SRK did in this film, which is one of the best in Hindi cinema."

“Actually true,” another fan remarked. If Aamir had starred in Swades, the movie would have been dull, and nobody would have recalled it. This film became a cult classic because of Shah Rukh Khan's outstanding performance. "The film has aged better than Lagaan and is still relevant after 20 years."

Aamir Khan will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which is directed by RS Prasanna, will hit theatres on June 20.
