Recently, a one-of-a-kind competition was held in New York to celebrate Pedro Pascal's stunning beauty. Several lookalikes of the Last of Us star congregated to see who could pass off as the genuine article. Fans are left amazed by the winner's startling likeness to Pedro.

The winner of the Pedro Pascal lookalike contest has been announced

Fans in New York's Lower East Side streets selected George Gountas, a father, as Pedro #5 for having the best likeness of the Golden Globe-nominated star of The Last of Us during a look-alike competition on Sunday.

George Gountas is also from the television industry. According to the NYPost, he is The Daily Show's lighting designer. George, who claimed that his wife, Jenny Gania, had dragged him into the competition, won $50 and a year's worth of burritos from host Son Del North Mexican eatery.

“It started when the Game of Thrones came out the first time — that’s when we first heard it. Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like, when we saw this (contest), I was like, ‘It’s Father’s Day. You have to go. It’s going to be your Father’s Day treat’. It’s funny, because he’s not on social media at all. But now he’s going to be everywhere,” George Gountas said. He edged out nearly 30 other people for the title.

And the inspiration behind the contest was Pedro Pascal’s claim that there is “no good Mexican food” in New York. The event came after Timothée Chalamet surprised fans at another look-alike contest in his honour in Madison Square Park in October.

Having the contest on Father’s Day was interesting as Pedro’s recent self-proclaimed “very daddy” roles have prompted many of his fans to coin him “the internet’s daddy”. In one red carpet interview, the actor acknowledged the label, saying, “Yep, I am your cool sl**ty daddy”.

Fans react

Fans were astonished as they saw the contestants' striking likeness to Pedro Pascal when videos from the event appeared on social media. Fans rushed to social media to express their astonishment as the eerie resemblance caused a stir.

One individual stated, "I love that Pedro Pascal has made my name popular again and that it's associated with someone so sexy and talented," while another added, "He have the same smile."

"Oh my god. "That's awesome," one person wrote. One supporter remarked, "Wait. Isn't that simply Pedro Pascal?"

"soo, is he single? I'm asking for a friend," said one.

"Not even Pedro himself resembles him as much as number 5 does hahaha," one user shared, while another commented, "They knew exactly what they were doing by organizing it on Father's Day."

One person stated, "I love how silly this is... definitely needed to giggle like this in such dark times. LOVE THIS ENERGY."

In truth, the allure of the Pedro Pascal lookalike drew many people to the competition in the hope of finding their perfect match.

One inquired, "ARE THEY SINGLE?", and the other said, "I need him in my life."

In the newly released movie Materialists, Pedro Pascal plays Harry. This is his initial endeavor following his departure from The Last of Us season two.
