Paris Jackson Responds to Backlash Over Performing on Michael Jackson's Death Anniversary

Paris Jackson, an actress and singer, is defending herself against detractors after receiving criticism for her planned concert on June 25, the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson's death.
Fans and social media users have criticized the timing of the performance because the musician-actor is on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra.
Paris retaliates.
Paris, 27, used Instagram to explain her choice to sing on the anniversary of her father's passing. She shared a video on her Instagram Stories, which is now offline from her account. However, it has spread rapidly on social media.
"As a result, folks are angry once more. In the video, Paris stated, "I believe one of the tour dates that I'm supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family."
Paris, who was shared with Debbie Rowe, the late Thriller singer's ex-wife, along with 28-year-old Prince Jackson, then described the reason she would be performing on June 25.
She continued, "Therefore, I suppose I need to clarify to these folks that when...you are not headlining these shows, you do not choose the date you perform, the time you go on stage, or the city in which you perform."
She asserted that folks have a romanticized view of tour life and are unaware of its actual circumstances.
“First of three also doesn’t get a tour bus,” Paris said, revealing the truth of the shows. If I have a band with me, I sometimes rent a sprinter van, which I've done previously. However, I won't be traveling with my band this time. My sound guy, who is also my fiancé (musician Justin Long), and I are alone with my acoustic guitar. "So we're going to be in a soccer mom van."
“This feels like (Incubus is) doing me a favour by bringing me out on tour. So (what), I'm gonna tell 'em, 'Sorry, guys, we can't perform on this date?” added Paris Jackson in her video.
The Hit Your Knees singer ended her message saying, “F**k you”.
Paris is scheduled to perform in Nashville on June 25, 16 years since Michael Jackson died at the age of 50.
More about Paris
This is not the first time Paris has had to defend how she honours her late father following his 2009 death. In August 2023, she explained why she chose not to commemorate what would have been his 65th birthday on Instagram.
“Today is my dad's birthday and back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday,” she said in a video at the time, adding, “He actually didn't want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn't want us to throw a party or anything like that”. She slammed people who criticised her choice for not wishing her father.
