When OTTplay snatched hold of Ragini Dwivedi (Kempegowda, Villain, Ragini IPS) in the middle of her schedule for her new Kannada movie Sarkari Nyayabele Angadi, she was able to have a brief interview about her upcoming OTT debut. Shriya Pilgaonkar leads the cast in Chhal Kapat: The Deception, a murder mystery in which Ragini plays a key role. "I am filming a hard-hitting picture on a fraud in the PDS (public distribution system) called Sarkari Nyayabele Angadi in Maddur; it's an offbeat film highlighting the shortcomings from the powers that be," she says.

Deception: Ragini is thrilled to have finally landed this thriller, directed by Ajay Bhuyan, after spending a lot of time in Mumbai for auditions and look-tests, and The Deception will premiere on Zee5 in June. "I had to hold a number of meetings in Mumbai, and fortunately, I was filming for Vrushabha there for a time, and then I prolonged my stay. Although I've wanted to work in Hindi, I didn't think a web series would be the place to start. With this series, I've landed a really great role, and I've never been too concerned with just producing films," Ragini explains.

As stated in the official synopsis, the series follows SP Devika Rathore (Shriya) as she looks into the murder of an influencer in the days leading up to her best friend's wedding. "The plot centers around four friends and follows occurrences at a destination wedding, including a murder. The story centers around the how and ultimately leads to the who through a series of twists and turns. She claims that there are ultimately nine suspects, but the plot centers on these four pals and me, and I play one of them.

In the show, Ragini portrays Mehek as having a very "strong lead" role, which she describes as "nice and challenging" and a source of joy for her. “It has many layers of performance, and it actually gives me a lot of opportunity to demonstrate my abilities in a series. To be known for more than my glitzy side and the daring I exude, I wanted to be able to access the actor inside of me. This is precisely what I was looking for. My goal is to demonstrate to the audience that I am a talented actor. I have intentionally chosen films that support me in this endeavor," Ragini says, "From action to love stories and commercial entertainers, as well as a period film, I have a varied bouquet of films in my kitty now. I am in a happy place."
