After a break of almost 18 years, Anurag Basu returns to the world he established with Life in a... Metro (2007). Metro... Soon to be published, Dino is being promoted as a thematic follow-up to the original. The trailer, which was released earlier this week, gives a glimpse into the complex interpersonal dynamics and human emotions that the movie will explore.

Aditya Roy Kapur, who previously worked with Basu in Ludo (2020), is the ensemble's headliner. For the performer, returning to the director's unique narrative approach, which includes complicated storylines and imperfect characters, was like returning home. As the actor told Mid Day, Basu's depiction of his relationships is honest. His movies stand out because of this authenticity.

Reuniting with Anurag Basu

In Metro, Aditya is surrounded by an amazing group of actors... In Dino, which also stars Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sensharma, Ali Fazal, and Sara Ali Khan. Basu's work, in his opinion, mirrors reality because it features "lost souls seeking answers, flawed people trying to be better, and almost everyone wishing to find love amid their hustle in the city."

The musical shifts that were essential to the film's plot were especially challenging, according to the performer. One must expose oneself to the story in its most raw form in order to feel the full extent of his love, sorrow, and longing, he said. As part of the musical aspect of this project, the cast had to learn how to switch between talking and singing. As a result, it was both fulfilling and difficult to travel around.

Affection for tales that depict everyday life

Despite having worked in a variety of genres during his 15+ years in the film industry, including romantic dramas and action thrillers, Aditya asserts that slice-of-life movies are his favorite. The ability to play an over-the-top character is a gift for him, as is the little things and awkward silences, as these help an actor grow.

He infused the part of his odd persona in Metro with a carefree vigor, according to the description in Dino. In this situation, my character is unlike any other, Aditya claimed. Therefore, the actor was able to have a good time while utilizing it. He claims that switching from a demanding position to a less demanding one is beneficial, as evidenced by his most recent appearance in The Night Manager (2023).

Thrill of stepping into the unknown

Aditya reflects on his career and states that he enjoys accepting new challenges since they force him to grow. A crucial component of his development as an actor is his willingness to try new things. It's normal for an actor to experience a little anxiety when entering unexplored territory. He claimed that they are at their most present when they are on the verge of experiencing fear, and this can even motivate them to perform at their best. Since it pushes Aditya to attempt something new that they have never done before, it is freeing for them to be unsure.

He just responded that he wants people to see themselves in the movie when asked what he hopes viewers would get from it.

The movie Metro... In Dino will be released in theaters on July 4, 2025.
