During the promotion of his next film, Thug Life, actor Kamal Haasan found himself in a pickle when he made a remark about the Kannada language. In Karnataka, pro-Kannada organizations have criticized the performer for comparing Tamil and Kannada languages and have even called for a ban on the movie. The actor has now responded to the criticism, claiming that he did not intend "anything" and that the film was made with a lot of affection.

what Kamal Haasan said

According to news agency PTI, Kamal told reporters, "I think what I said was said with a lot of love. I didn't mean anything; the language history has been taught to me by historians. Additionally, Tamil Nadu is a very open state. I'm not claiming that there are no other states like this. However, it is extremely unusual for a Menon (MG Ramachandran) to have served as our Chief Minister, a Reddy (Omandur Ramasamy Reddiyar) to have served as our Chief Minister, a Tamilian (M Karunanidhi) to have served as our Chief Minister, and a Kannadiga Iyengar to have served as our Chief Minister from Mandya.

‘It has a third perspective as well.’

"So let's leave all these in-depth debates to historians, archaeologists, and linguistic specialists," he continued. "From the northern point of view, according to them it is right, if you look at it from Thenkumari (south), then what I say is right. There is a third aspect: the academics and linguists. This is not a solution; it is an explanation. Love never says sorry.

Kamal's first time working with Mani Ratnam since Nayakan was in Thug Life, 37 years later. In addition, it stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Baburaj.
