Kajol, who is renowned for her strong uniqueness and daring decisions both on and off camera, is once again breaking new ground with her next movie, Maa, which will be her first foray into the horror genre. In a group media interview prior to the film's debut, the actor discussed frankly with OTTplay the shifting discussions about work-life balance, the challenges of marriage and motherhood in the film industry, and how she has consistently followed her path.

Kajol answered with her usual candor when asked if she believes she broke barriers in films like Gupt, Dushman, and by choosing to embrace marriage and motherhood without taking a break from her career.

"Very proud of myself. What is there to say? I don't often think about it. I didn't give feminism much thought when I was doing it at the time," she said. "Yes, I just made up my mind about whether I wanted to do it or not, and I believe that's a personal decision." Everyone should follow their instincts in life, even if they seem to be correct. Don't do anything if you have a bad feeling about it.

Kajol's refusal to follow guidance

Kajol also recognized the numerous voices that attempted to dissuade her from getting married at the height of her profession, but she was able to overcome them by remaining strong in her own convictions. “Many people advised me at the time not to get married and not to have children,” the actor said. At that moment, there were a wide range of opinions. However, I believe that you will not regret your choices if you stay true to yourself. Your life was yours to live as you chose. The error is yours; you deserve the credit.

Kajol has made tremendous progress in recent years, with the debut of her digital courtroom drama The Trial, her police thriller Do Patti, and her soon-to-be-released full-fledged horror film Maa. Kajol responded to the question of whether this represents a reinvention or an evolution by stating that she has always believed in the limitless possibilities of life.

Kajol's thoughts on a long career

"I never viewed my career as something temporary," she stated. She also stated, "So many people told me that I would not have a career after I got married, but I still continued working. I will keep working for as long as I want to, with God's help.

In a business where women are sometimes marginalized after a particular age or stage of life, the actor stressed the value of agency and initiative. "You can always create them for yourself if you believe you aren't getting such roles anywhere," Kajol stated in conclusion. "There's never a lack of work." You simply need to make the best decisions for yourself.
