Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari said that Javed Akhtar, a lyricist, is unable to afford a home in Mumbai, and Javed Akhtar responded to that. Javed responded to her claim that he can't even rent an apartment in Mumbai by saying, "Yeah, me and Shabana sleep on the footpath these days," and then said, "See, it is true that Shabana wanted to buy a flat around 25 years ago but they refused saying she's a Muslim. These individuals were from Sindh, where their parents were from. The division saw them driven out. That anger was taken out on us, and the wounds are severe. However, who is to blame for it? She has to examine her own country's history since we received such affection here.

At the Gauravshaali Maharashtra Mahotsav, where Javed denounced the terrorist murder of 26 tourists in Pahalgam's meadows, Bushra had responded to Javed's speech. According to sources, she advised him to keep mum about the topic, similar to Naseeruddin, in a social media post.

Terrorists killed 26 people, the majority of whom were tourists, in a shooting attack on the Baisaran meadow close to the Pahalgam town in the Anantnag district on April 22.
