Fans are looking forward to Lokesh Kanagaraj's next movie, Coolie, which has a star-studded cast that includes Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna. Adding to the thrill, Nagarjuna verified in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India that he will be playing the film's antagonist and called the role "liberating."

Nagarjuna discusses how Lokesh Kanagaraj contacted him for Coolie.

Nagarjuna revealed that director Lokesh came to him with the proposition of playing an antagonist. He remembered that Lokesh started the discussion by straight asking if he would be interested in playing a bad character when they first met. Lokesh went on to say that they might just have a cup of tea and go their own ways if Nagarjuna wasn't interested in the concept. Nagarjuna, on the other hand, stated that he was not against the concept but emphasized the need of reading the screenplay before making a choice.

“I liked it so much that I made him come back six to seven times to work out my role,” he remembered saying after reading the script. However, I would respond with the word "liberating" if someone asked me how I performed in Coolie. My behavior was free of any pressure, in contrast to, say, the role of Deepak that I portray in Kuberaa. Deepak must constantly behave a certain way; even sipping a cup of coffee requires politeness. However, everything went out the window in Coolie.

Nagarjuna describes his role as the antagonist in Coolie as a freeing one.

He elaborated on why it was such a liberating experience by saying, "I could ask someone to shut up and get out of my face... something I could never do before!" Nevertheless, Lokesh has portrayed me in that light, and everyone agrees that I make a very endearing antagonist. My encounter was so freeing. I inquired of him several times if he was certain he wanted me to conduct a specific way and if individuals truly acted in that manner, and Lokesh would respond, "Yes sir, people are very evil!"
