Hansal Mehta Recommends Seth Rogen’s The Studio—All You Need to Know About the Hit Series

Seth Rogen's new television program, The Studio, has been evaluated by Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Seth plays a Hollywood studio head who is having trouble balancing corporate demands with his desire to create high-quality movies. The program has received positive reviews for its biting satire, cinematography, and acting.
Seth Rogen's The Studio is reviewed by Hansal Mehta
Hansal published a comprehensive review of the program on his X account (previously Twitter). The director was not impressed by the first episode, and he began to doubt whether the program was worth all the buzz. Hansal, though, began to be absorbed in the underlying irony and pathos of the presentation as he moved past it.
"I saw the trailers and I was kicked," Hansal wrote. The program seemed to be just that way: acute, satirical, and self-aware. The word was true; I read the initial reviews. I was thus eager to jump in, almost giddy with excitement. After that, Episode 1 was released. Furthermore, I was underwhelmed. Frivolous? Slapstick? Is that all there is? I was curious about whether the PR had surpassed the goods. Or maybe I was missing something? However, the enchantment then materialized. Little by little. Without being noticed. Intelligently.
The industry is referred to by Hansal as a love letter
The director of Omerta went on to say, "What appeared to be parody began to show layers. The irony grew stronger, but the humor remained broad. The pathos started to take hold. By the second and third episodes, I was completely engrossed. We all enjoy loathing this industry, but this was more than simply a satire of it. This was a tribute. A letter of love. A tragicomedy about the people behind the chaos, the ones who cause all the damage but also manage to keep it all together.
Seth Rogen has created something unique: a contemporary slapstick comedy series with unexpected insight and excruciating compassion. At first, the characters seemed cartoonish, but they gradually evolved into real humans. Individuals who are contradictory, heartbroken, have suppressed beliefs, and make daily compromises. I wasn't merely seeing a show by the time it was over. I was contemplating our planet—this insane, shattered, and lovely enterprise of innovation and commerce. The Studio served as a reminder that everyone, including the gatekeepers, the blockers, and the "numbers people," are ultimately simply components in a machine that we all, in some way, run. We pray for the system's demise. However, we're also a member of it.
“The cast is consistently outstanding — not in a polished, prestigious television style, but in a raw, lived-in, wonderfully chaotic manner that reflects the disorder in which they live. Every performer seems to grasp the ridiculousness of their reality, but they portray it with utter faith. Their performances have a rhythm—breathless, choppy, and occasionally heartbreakingly calm. This confusion is reflected in the filming technique, which employs lengthy, frenetic shots that alternate between backstage mayhem and personal collapse. The camera doesn't simply observe; it also dances with delusion, lingers on silent defeat, and crashes into rooms. What they've accomplished is amazing, but it's not the kind of spectacle that the sector typically markets. This is a very authentic experience. Genuine in its suffering, its silliness, and its behind-the-scenes drama. The Studio thus reflects a reality where falsehoods reign supreme but where truth somehow prevails, Hansal said.
About the Studio
The major actors in The Studio include Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, the president of Continental Studios, and Catherine O'Hara as Patty, an experienced producer. It also stars Ike Barinholtz as Matt's right-hand colleague Sal, Kathryn Hahn as Maya, the crazy head of marketing, and newcomer Chase Sui Wonders as Quinn, a creative director.
The show, which Seth wrote, directed, and produced, includes amazing cameos from Netflix CEO Ted Sarando and none other than Martin Scorsese. Additional famous special guests include celebrities such Zack Efron, Anthon Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Kravitz, Adam Scott, and filmmaker Ron Howard. On Apple TV+, The Studio has been brought back for a second season.
