With special premieres held in a few theatres the day before, the 2010 Mahesh Babu film Khaleja, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, was re-released in 4K in theatres on May 30. However, when fans waited in line to see the cult favourite movie, they were taken aback by the absence of certain scenes. Soon after, videos and images of supporters arguing with the theatre administration over the film's incompleteness made their way online.

Khaleja is the subject of chaos caused by Mahesh Babu fans.

Many moviegoers expressed their displeasure with the team on X (previously Twitter) over the lost footage. "Orey song cut chesaru ani chepali kadha raa mundhey fans tho aatalu adadhu @KhalejaTheFilm direct adham pagal d*****u manolu cinema api d*****u, Sunday monday song ledhu movie lo," one devotee wrote alongside a video of spectators bickering with the projectionist while the movie was playing. (You must inform the audience in advance if you intend to edit footage. Here, fans shattered glass and prevented the film from playing. The song for Sunday Monday is not included.

Another fan posted a video of fans screaming in unison and stopping a screening, writing, “Sunday Monday song ledu. Nalo naku devudu kanipisthunnadu scene ledu. Evadu kodite dhimma thirigi dialogue ledu. Chesthe comedy nene cheyali scene ledu.. inka em chesukodaniki ee re release. Worst planning ra @KhalejaTheFilm #Khaleja4K. Anduke ee gola theatre lopala. (Songs, scenes and dialogues are missing from the film, what are we supposed to do with this re-release? That’s why fans are creating a ruckus).”

Some people also claimed that essential moments from the movie were missing, and they posted images of what was missing and asked the crew questions.

The re-release of Khaleja includes extra scenes that were previously absent.

Theatres and exhibitors were forced to issue clarifications on X, stating, "Dear #Maheshbabu fans, Please note that #Khaleja4K will be screened with the content we receive from our VPF providers." After enough commotion was created at theatres. We've seen a couple of tweets indicating that not all of the scenes or songs have been shown. Therefore, please be mindful and don't let us down by causing needless problems. Please be aware that missing scenes have been restored.

The film's X account, which was established for the re-release, tweeted Friday morning, "EVERYTHING SORTED. Enjoy Khaleja 4K to the fullest in theaters near you." The crew claimed to be resolving the problem at the time of writing, despite continued complaints from fans that certain venues were still lacking scenes and music for the morning performances as well.

Despite positive reviews, Khaleja, which also features Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Shafi, Sunil, Ali, and Subbaraju, had a poor box office debut. Over the years, though, it developed a cult following and is now recognized as one of the greatest Telugu movies ever produced.
