Devadath Shaji, the filmmaker and screenwriter, became well-known after writing the screenplay for Mammootty's Bheeshma Parvam, the megastar's first major smash following the epidemic. Additionally, he worked as an assistant director on the popular Malayalam movie Kumbalangi Nights. Dheeran, the young filmmaker's directorial debut, will be released in theaters on July 4. The filmmaker talked about the possibility of a prequel to the Amal Neerad movie in an interview that was only available on OTTplay.

'There is potential for a prelude in Bheeshma Parvam'

Devadath revealed that he had considered a prologue to the action drama that will be released in 2022. "In Bheeshma Parvam, characters like Paily and Anjootti were only mentioned. He said that if there were any chance of producing a second film, the story in his head would be a prequel that provided information about these people. The filmmaker also said that there are no intentions for a sequel at this time. "It is an Amal Neerad film and features all of his signature style. I've been lucky to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him. For this reason, he should be the one to introduce the idea of bringing back these figures or creating a sequel, he added.

Devadath also discussed his desire to helm a comedy play for his debut since he enjoys comedy. Dheeran, in his opinion, is a complete comedy trip centered around an unusual protagonist who resides in a little Malayattoor community. The director is also interested in hearing from viewers after the movie's theatrical premiere. "It's impossible to say what will or won't work with the audience. I find the beauty of cinema to be its unpredictable nature," he added.

In addition to the young performers in Dheeran, Devadath said he was thrilled about the opportunity to work with some of Malayalam's veteran actors. In Dheeran, Manoj K Jayan, Ashokan, Sudheesh, Jagadish, Vineeth, Siddharth Bharathan, Rajesh Madhavan, and Abhiram Radhakrishnan all have significant roles.
