Following the terrorist strike in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people, Pakistani musicians were prohibited from performing in India. In Sardaarji 3, however, actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh is being criticized and facing a backlash for collaborating with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. Given the strained relations between India and Pakistan, the film's producers opted to release it solely outside of the country. Diljit eventually opened up about the subject in an interview with BBC Asian Network.

Diljit Dosanjh on the fact that Sardaarji 3 is not being released in India

Diljit stated, "Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha," when asked why Sardaarji 3 was released internationally rather than in India. Everything was well after we filmed this in February. Following that, there are several significant things that we do not control. Therefore, the manufacturers chose to release the film abroad since it was clear that it would no longer be set in India. When this movie was being made, there was nothing like this; today, producers have invested a lot of money in it. (Everything was well when this movie was produced. We shot it in February, and at the time, everything was fine. Following that, many significant events occurred that were out of our hands. As a result, the producers opted to release the film abroad because it was clear that it would not be available in India at this time. When the picture was being created, nothing like this was occurring, and the producers have put a lot of money into it. They are aware that since you are eliminating an entire area, there will be a loss. Even though I signed the film, everything was still alright. We no longer have control over the circumstance. Therefore, I back the producers' decision to distribute it internationally.

Why Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir's 'Sardaar Ji 3' has skipped India release - CNBC TV18

Diljit Dosanjh on his collaboration with Hania Aamir

"Very good," he said of his experience collaborating with Hania on the movie. She's quite competent. Her privacy and her work are something I have a lot of respect for. Additionally, I respect everyone's personal space, particularly women, and I am a very private individual myself. Zayada kuch nahi, bas to the point hi baat hoti hai (Conversations are to the point, nothing more).

Diljit's collaboration with Hania in the Sardaarji 3 trailer soon drew criticism from many viewers. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged that the performer be prohibited, and there are now calls for a boycott. FWICE President BN Tiwari told Hindustan Times in an interview that Diljit had "hurt Indian sentiments" by working with a Pakistani actor. He has shown disrespect for the feelings of the country and made fun of the sacrifices made by our valiant troops. His preference for Pakistani over Indian talent raises significant concerns regarding his priorities and allegiance. Diljit has offended Indian sentiments, disrespected the country, and mocked the sacrifices of our brave soldiers by working with a Pakistani actor.

We have heard that the movie is not being released in India, he continued. However, we shall prohibit its release if they intend to do so. Right now, they're only selling them outside the United States. With that in mind, we are not prepared to ignore Diljit's collaboration with a Pakistani performer. We have demanded a complete prohibition on all future movies, music, or other types of initiatives. On the same day, we will send an official letter as well. In addition to Diljit, we have urged that the movie's producers be prohibited from working on any future projects.
