Having become the first Indian actress to be honored with her own star on the renowned Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, the famous sidewalk, Deepika Padukone shared her excitement and pride on Instagram.

During a live news conference held at Ovation Hollywood on Wednesday, Deepika's name was revealed alongside other well-known figures in the realms of music, movies, live theater, television, and sports entertainment. For the Class of 2026, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made this announcement in the Motion Pictures category, putting her alongside luminaries like Demi Moore, Rami Malek, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt.

In response to the accomplishment, Deepika Padukone posted on her Instagram Stories on Thursday. By giving thanks for her state of mind, she conveyed it. "Gratitude..." was the single word she used to express her feeling.

The distinction is the first for an Indian actress. Prior to this, the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 1960 included an Indian name for the first time before 2025. Robert Flaherty, an American filmmaker, chose Sabu Dastagir, the son of an elephant mahout, for his 1937 film Elephant Boy, which was based on a Rudyard Kipling novel.

February of this year saw Mindy Kaling become the first South Asian woman to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 2026, the Hollywood Walk of Fame will have a new list of names. There are 35 names in the course, each of which stands for a symbol from anywhere in the globe, whether it be in movies, television, music, Broadway, or comedy.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026, which is in the Motion Pictures category, included Deepika as one of the honorees. The honorees are chosen from hundreds of nominations. Richard Blade and Eugenio Derbez, fellow Walk of Famers, alternated presenting the list on Wednesday.

The icons were chosen from five categories: sports entertainment, live performance and live theater, television, and motion pictures. Other members of the class of 2026 include performers Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, Molly Ringwald, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rami Malek, and Noah Wyle; former NBA player turned sports analyst Shaquille O'Neal; and Good Morning America co-anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, who will share a ceremony. The late Italian special effects artist Carlo Rambaldi and filmmaker Tony Scott will both be honored posthumously.
