Deepika Padukone’s 8-Hour Workday Demand Gets Backing from Anurag Basu

Following reports that Bollywood star Deepika Padukone left Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, a discussion about working hours in the film business began. The actor's request for an eight-hour work day has received backing from a number of celebrities, including Vikrant Massey, Neha Dhupia, and Sonakshi Sinha. Anurag Basu has also supported Deepika in an interview with Firstpost.

"I also don't like long-hour shifts at work," Anurag responded when asked about his opinion on Deepika's eight-hour shift request. My performers are never bothered by the extended hours or stress they experience at work. Therefore, I concur wholeheartedly with Deepika Padukone's remarks. It's a movie; I don't allow my performers to voice any grievances in this regard.
He went on to describe his approach to work, saying, "I want my actors to be very happy on set and know their character well." Before the photo shoot, I don't share too much with them. I've been using this approach for years: allow them to find out their roles.

Deepika was previously in discussions to play Prabhas's co-star in Spirit, the next action movie being directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. After her rumored departure from the project, however, there was conjecture that she had sought an eight-hour workday, a portion of the film's earnings, and that she had asked that her lines not be spoken in Telugu—all of which were said to have rubbed the filmmaker the wrong way.
