One of the most well-liked TV couples is comprised of the performers Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee. The couple's chemistry has captivated viewers time and time again. They are now prepared to perform live in the program Pati Patni Aur Panga to amuse their audience.
The program, which will be hosted by Sonali Bendre and Munawar Faruqui, will make its debut on Jio Hotstar on August 2. Rubina Dilaik-Abhinav Shukla, Swara Bhaskar-Fahad Ahmad, Aavika Gor-Milind Chandwani, Geeta Phogat-Pawan Kumar, and Sudesh Lehri-Mamta Lehri are some of the other notable actors in the show. Debina Bonnerjee spoke to Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview about her post-motherhood comeback to the entertainment industry, her decision to star in a reality show over a daily soap opera, and her experience with Gurmeet as a girl-dad.
Debina Bonnerjee makes a return to television.
Debina stated that she has always loved working and that she would never stop, regardless of the circumstances. But she had to pause her career to raise her children. Speaking about making a comeback, Debina stated, "I didn't intend on quitting my career, but yes, I will be performing and be on mainstream television after a very long time, and that is actually giving me goosebumps and coming back after a long time." Additionally, now that social media allows you to immediately engage with your community and find out how they are liking and loving, I feel like things have come full circle. There wasn't much social media discussion when I was working earlier. However, I now have a fantastic community of moms, grandmothers, and teenagers. They feel good about the fact that I've made motherhood so simple and pleasant, and this motivates them to consider things outside of housework, kids, and working even after giving birth.
Debina Bonnerjee on doing Pati Patni Aur Panga with Gurmeet Choudhary
When asked what led her to agree to Pati Patni Aur Panga, Debina responded, "It's very lighthearted, it would be fun, and it would show the funniest version of ourselves — just the way we really are." Of course, there are many humorous interactions between couples, and I sometimes find myself unable to express them while simply sitting by myself on my vlog. However, it would be interesting to observe how we respond to such scenarios in a more lighthearted manner if they were replicated.
She continued, "Thus, I felt there couldn't have been a better show than this, where you just go and enjoy yourself." There aren't many other fascinating programs that we haven't tried; we've already completed Khatron Ke Khiladi and Jhalak. And Bigg Boss is not for us; it's simply not our cup of tea. Therefore, we believed this to be a fantastic chance to learn about the relationship environment and engage with our audience in a positive manner.
After many years, she went on to say that they were still trying to get to know each other while working together, saying, "Back then, you know, we were both slim, 22 years old, and there was a different kind of passion at that time. This time, I felt much more at liberty when we went to film the commercial, since we've both collaborated with other individuals and come to the conclusion that we always strive to do our best. Therefore, there was that comprehension. Gurmeet is a very understated person who doesn't reveal much. I hope I'll get to see him open up and express himself more during this show.
There's a misconception about Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee.
"People often think that Gurmeet is the quiet one and I'm the one who does everything, always pointing fingers and taking charge," Debina said, adding that Pati Patni Aur Panga would dispel the myth that Gurmeet is the quieter one between them. However, the reverse is true. I am the one who is calm and patient, and Gurmeet makes a lot of decisions on his own, keeping me in the background. Therefore, I hope that aspect of us is evident.
Debina stated that "he is a wonderful father, particularly as a girl dad" when discussing Gurmeet's relationship with his daughters. Every day seems like a fresh occurrence, and he's constantly aware of the girls' whereabouts, activities, and emotions. Gurmeet is back after so many years, and he's more anxious than ever to be with the kids. It's heartwarming to see how happy the girls are when he arrives home.
In addition, she said, "Sometimes, we're in the middle of important conversations, and I don't even realize he's home. However, our daughters are able to feel it; they begin shouting "Papa" and rush towards the door, and sure enough, Gurmeet is there. They just know he's returned, which you won't believe until you see it for yourself.
Debina said if it was a conscious choice to do a reality show over a daily soap opera and continued, "I wanted to work and didn't mind doing other television shows either, but the expected timings—12-hour shifts, plus two hours of travel, and time to get ready—make it a bit difficult to manage right now as a new mother. It's more like an unending dedication than simply a couple of days. That's not something I'm seeing right now. Additionally, reality shows are far more enjoyable and less demanding, and they provide an excellent opportunity to interact with the audience. Therefore, I thought it would be a nicer, less demanding method of accomplishing things.
