Shilpa Shetty Declines to Stir Marathi Language Controversy

4 months ago | 5 Views

The ongoing dispute surrounding the Marathi language was addressed to actress Shilpa Shetty during a recent promotional event for her forthcoming movie. She did not respond, though, because she said she did not want to start a debate.

Shilpa won't say anything.

As part of a promotional event for her forthcoming movie KD The Devil, Shilpa went outside in Mumbai on Thursday. When the trailer for her next movie was released, Shilpa was questioned about the dispute, but she dodged the issue by proclaiming her origins as a "Marathi mulgi."

"I'm a girl from Maharashtra," said Shilpa. Today we're discussing KD. We will not encourage you to get involved in any dispute other than the one with KD right now. We can dub this picture in Marathi as well since it is already available in several languages (Yes). I am a Maharashtra native. The movie KD is the subject of our discussion today. We can't really encourage conversations about other contentious issues. We can dub this film in Marathi because it is already multilingual.

After hearing her response, Sanjay Dutt, her co-star, also refrained from joining the dispute and gave her a slight grin.

What do we know about the row

The dispute started when the state government announced intentions to teach Hindi in the state's elementary schools as a third language. The state's opposition and language advocacy organizations reacted angrily to the ruling. Although the BJP-led administration in Maharashtra reversed its decision, the argument over it continues.

Raj Thackeray's address at a recent victory rally in Mumbai, in which he urged Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) members to make sure that non-Marathi speakers in the city learn the local language while refraining from documenting any violent acts, gave the dispute more impetus.

The following endeavor for Shilpa

Soon, Shilpa will appear in Prem's KD The Devil, a Pan-Indian production. The movie also features Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, Sanjay Dutt, and Dhruva Sarja in addition to Shilpa.

On July 10, the movie's teaser was released. In Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, the two-minute trailer was shown. The movie begins with a montage of character introductions, beginning with Sanjay Dutt's Dhak Deva and Dhruva Sarja's Kaali Dasa, also known as KD, the protagonist.
