The whole country was rocked on June 12 when an Air India plane carrying 242 people fell just after taking off from Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat. Everyone was taken aback by the event. Here's how celebrities, from Akshay Kumar to Alia Bhatt, have reacted to the terrible event.

Celebrities respond to the Ahmedabad plane disaster.

An Air India plane with 242 people on board fell in Ahmedabad soon after takeoff en route to London. In response to the tragedy, Akshay Kumar posted on his X account, "Shocked and speechless at the Air India crash. Only prayers at this time."

On his Instagram Story, Vicky Kaushal said, "Devastating news of the AirIndia plane crash.... making my heart sink reading about 242 persons on board. Praying for everyone's safety and recovery."

Alia Bhatt wrote on her Instagram Story, "This is devastating! My heart aches for al the passengers and crew... thoughts and prayers with everyone on board and their loved ones.."

Housefull 5 actor Riteish Deshmukh also reacted to the incident. “Absolutely heartbroken and in shock after hearing about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My heart goes out to all the passengers, their families, and everyone affected on the ground. Holding them all in my thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time," he wrote on X.

On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Sunny Deol, Sonu Sood and Ashish Chanchlani have also reacted to the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. 

Janhvi wrote, "Shaken by the news of the Air India flight crash that took place shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The weight of such tragedies is impossible to put into words. Praying deeply for the passengers, the crew, and every family waiting for answers tonight." 

“Devastated by the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying with all my heart for survivors — may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time," Sunny Deol posted.

Parineeti Chopra wrote, “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members of the ill fated Air India flight today. Praying for God to give them strength during this time.”

Apart from them, Sara Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and more celebrities reacted to the tragic incident.

Air India confirmed the news on X, writing, “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on http://airindia.com and on our X handle." 

Several videos captured the moment the Air India plane crashed, and thick black smoke rose into the sky. The tragic incident took place on June 12. According to initial reports, the plane crashed in a densely populated area near the airport, prompting residents to quickly gather at the scene to assist in rescue efforts.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has reportedly travelled from Surat to Ahmedabad to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, according to an IANS report, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a discussion with Patel, and the central government has assured full support to deal with the situation going forward.
