Amar Upadhyay, the actor who rose to prominence in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000–2008) for his portrayal of Mihir Virani, has discussed his large fan base at that time. In an interview with India Today, Amar recounted how he and his family went to the Taj Mahal but were surrounded by people and his T-shirt was ripped.
The Taj Mahal was the site of a mob attack on Amar Upadhyay.
When Amar went to the Taj Mahal at that time, he was with his wife and little girl. It happened to be a Friday when there was a larger crowd because admission was free.
"On that day, there were thousands and lakhs of people. I realized that I made a mistake by arriving that day. It was total pandemonium, but as we were attempting to enter, I was identified by someone who exclaimed, "This man is Mihir!" His remarks traveled far and wide, and before I could see it, people were attacking me. We had to run back since my T-shirt was completely ripped. "My family was thrown on one side, and I was on the other," he stated.
He also stated that the police and security arrived and criticized him for arriving on a day that was free. "They were furious that I nonchalantly just walked in, even though I told them I had no idea," he said. I was surrounded and escorted back to Delhi in thirty minutes. The Taj Mahal was out of sight.

After getting married and having a kid, Amar still received marriage offers.
Amar remembered meeting several women who offered marriage proposals, but he didn't know any of them. "I'd be happy to talk to them, snap photos, or sign autographs. They would frequently question me about my personal life, and as soon as I revealed that I was married and had a child, they would instantly break out. At that point, my aunt told me that they were here for proposals and wanted me to meet their daughters," he said.
