Actor Aamir Khan recently received criticism for his production company's late posting regarding Operation Sindoor, India's counter-response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist assault. However, during an interview with Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, Aamir expressed his pride in the Indian Armed Forces and reminisced about a week he spent with Indian troops following the Kargil War.

Aamir Khan remembers his trip to the soldiers at the border following the Kargil War

Aamir replied, "I had gone—perhaps you all don't know—but when the Kargil War happened and we won, I was the only person who spent eight days in Kargil," when asked if he thinks he should go to the border to see soldiers and uplift their spirits. I arrived in Leh, and then I spent eight days driving along the route to Srinagar. I interviewed each regiment. I only saw the troops during those eight days, and I went to motivate them. "I thank you and salute you for fighting this war for us and protecting us."

He stated, "But during those eight days that I spent with them, I realized that our troops don't actually need motivation." They live in such challenging terrain and protect us, yet they have an amazing spirit—they are cheerful, confident, and smiling. I believed I was going there to lift their spirits, but instead, they lifted mine. I dined with them and inquired about their lives during those eight days. I even spent one night in a bunker on the border. I don't believe anyone else has done anything like that; there were six to eight soldiers there.

The sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna and starring Aamir, is a recreation of the Spanish movie Campeones. Aamir plays a basketball coach who prepares a group of neurodivergent youngsters for a basketball competition. Genelia D'Souza also has an important part in the movie. It is set to hit theaters on June 20.
