The Toyota Innova Hycross has been given a five-star safety grade in the most recent series of crash tests carried out by the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). As a result of this outcome, the Hycross is the first Toyota model to undergo crash testing under the recently implemented Indian safety assessment program and the first MPV in India to be rated by BNCAP.

The Innova Hycross achieved a total score of 30.47 out of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category, which earned it the highest possible 5-star rating. It should be mentioned that the test results are applicable to all Hycross models, including the GX 8-seat petrol, VX hybrid, and ZX hybrid.

The Hycross achieved a score of 14.47 out of 16 on the frontal offset deformable barrier test, with the majority of its body regions receiving a 'good' rating for protection. The driver's left tibia and the chest area for both the driver and front passenger received an 'adequate' grade, but the rest of the body regions performed well.

The MPV received a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test, along with 'good' marks in all areas. The side pole impact test yielded an 'Ok' grade as well.

Child safety with the Toyota Innova Hycross

With 45 out of 49 possible points, the Hycross also performed well in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) area, receiving another five-star grade. The MPV scored full marks in the CRS (Child Restraint System) installation score (12/12) and the dynamic crash test (24/24). In the vehicle assessment category, it received nine out of thirteen possible points.

Dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old kid were utilized in the experiment, both of which were fastened in a rear-facing position in Toyota MIDI i-Size seats that were compatible with ISOFIX.

Toyota Innova Hycross: Safety measures

The Innova Hycross comes standard with a full range of safety features from Toyota throughout the lineup. These features include seat belt reminders, hill-start assist, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, six airbags, and ABS with EBD.

The premium ZX(O) model also includes ADAS features such adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping aid.
