With the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Smriti Irani is returning to television and clarifying that she has no plans to quit politics. A few days ago, the show's debut preview was released, bringing back memories for viewers.

What Smriti said

Smriti received a note of good fortune from a follower on her X (previously Twitter) account just before her program began. The tweet said, "Dear @smritiirani all the best on your return to television. Hope this is just a brief sabbatical from politics."

"No sabbatical," replied Smriti in response. For 25 years, I've worked in politics and media, with just a 10-year break to fulfill my duties as a Cabinet Minister. I have never and will never compromise my duties to the sangathan.

"With all due respect for your decision to return to the media," tweeted another supporter. Thousands of your admirers, including myself, will also wish your active presence in politics. Particularly when the Bengal and UP elections are approaching. PS - When my mother heard this news, she was overjoyed.

"My Pranaam to your Ma...be assured of my active political contribution during the forthcoming elections as assigned by sangathan," Smriti said in response.

Smriti's career in politics

Smriti, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has represented India in parliament from 2011 to 2024, serving in the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat from 2011 to 2019 and in the Lok Sabha from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh from 2019 to 2024.

With Smriti Irani playing Tulsi again and Amar Upadhyay reprising his role as Mihir, Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is about to make its long-awaited return. The plot centers on Tulsi (Smriti), the ideal daughter-in-law, who is the daughter of a pandit and the wife of the grandson of Govardhan Virani (Amar Upadhyay/ Ronit Roy), a well-known businessman.

Star Plus and JioHotstar will broadcast the series every night from July 29 at 10.30 p.m.
