The rush for a train ticket home has officially begun as Eid-ul-Adha draws closer. Bangladesh Railway began advance ticket sales on May 25 morning for trips planned for June 4, 2025, in order to facilitate easier travel this year, signaling the start of the pre-Eid travel season.

The railway administration has gone entirely digital this year in an effort to shorten lines and increase convenience. All standard intercity train tickets are now sold online; there are no sales for these services at station counters. Tickets for passengers traveling to the Western region went on sale at 8 a.m., while tickets for the Eastern region went on sale at 2 p.m.

Exclusive trains for unique events

Ten unique Eid trains will run on five routes during the holiday season in two phases—from June 4 to June 6 and again from June 9 to June 14, 2025—in order to satisfy the enormous demand. On Eid-ul-Adha, some of these services will be offered.

However, tickets for special Eid trains are only sold at station counters, unlike regular trains, so travelers considering these routes should make arrangements to purchase tickets in person.

Increased capacity and adaptability

During this Eid-ul-Adha season, there will be 43 intercity trains operating throughout the nation, providing about 33,315 seats. In addition, 25% of each train's capacity will be set aside for standing tickets, which will only be available for purchase at station counters.

Please be aware that tickets purchased in advance are non-refundable; however, each passenger is permitted to purchase up to four tickets per transaction for additional flexibility.
