Yograj Singh Alleges BCCI Wanted Dhoni Out After 2011 WC, Says 7 Careers Ruined

On Sunday, former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh, the father of legendary Yuvraj Singh, made an explosive allegation, claiming that the BCCI selection committee "destroyed" the careers of seven players following the victory at the 2011 ODI World Cup and later attempted to be rid of captain MS Dhoni.
India's 28-year wait for the prized trophy came to an end with the 2011 ODI World Cup victory, as the host nation defeated Sri Lanka in the championship game at the Wankhede Stadium. However, the tournament signaled the end of an era in Indian cricket, as only three players—Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Dhoni himself—went on to compete in the 2015 50-over World Cup.
Yograj criticized the former selection committee for swiftly abandoning the 2011 World Cup-winning squad, telling InsideSport that the choice had "destroyed" their careers. This included individuals such as Yuvraj, Rahul Dravid, his predecessor, and Gautam Gambhir, the current head coach of India. "You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason," Dravid said. You simply had them go after 2011, including guys like Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Mohammed Kaif, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Gautam Gambhir. Immediately following the 2011 World Cup, you annihilated the squad. Seven players had their careers ruined. "That's why we're having trouble," Yograj stated.

'Selectors sought Dhoni's dismissal'
The experienced cricketer also mentioned the series of events in 2012 that resulted in former selector Mohinder Amarnath's desire to dismiss Dhoni. This decision was unanimous among the other committee members after the two whitewashes in England and Australia.
Yograj stated, "We lost 5 series when MS Dhoni was the captain and he was told he would be replaced by Mohinder Amarnath, but that's not the way to do it."
"N Srinivasan, the then BCCI president, overturned the unanimous choice to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni." Amarnath told CNN-IBN, "The Board President did not approve the unanimous decision to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni."
