Yashasvi Jaiswal's Dance Sparks Outrage After 4 Missed Catches Against England: ‘Rohit Wouldn’t Tolerate This’

After India's devastating defeat in the first test at Headingley, fans are dissatisfied, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is under the greatest pressure. The young batter, who had a terrible day in the slips with more than six missed catches in both innings, is now under fire for a video circulating online that shows him grinning and dancing shortly after another missed catch on Day 5 of the Test.

Jaiswal's first-innings century was a standout moment on paper, but his repeated mistakes in the field were costly at crucial times. His errors mounted, ranging from missing several opportunities in the first inning to giving Ben Duckett a lifeline in the second. But the timing of the viral video is what truly caused the uproar. Right after Jaiswal caught Duckett—just as the batter was about to score his century—he could be seen in the video in good spirits, dancing, and smiling.

The optics were immediately pointed out by fans. Following England's second-highest successful chase in Test history, which saw them calmly defeat a challenging target of 371, the atmosphere was naturally somber. With a magnificent 149, Ben Duckett spearheaded the assault, and Zak Crawley's elegant 65 helped to inflict the initial harm. India had a momentary glimmer of hope during a middle-order stutter, but Joe Root (53)* and Jamie Smith (44)*, making his debut, maintained composure and ended the game with an unbroken 71-run partnership.

Here's how the fans reacted:

As the English openers established the tone in the morning session of the last day, India's bowlers were left looking for answers. Despite taking five wickets in the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah was unable to break through the formidable English combination of Duckett and Zak Crawley, who scored a valiant 188 runs. Late in the day, Prasidh Krishna boosted optimism with quick wickets, and Shardul Thakur brought about a double breakthrough by dismissing Duckett and Brook on consecutive balls. However, it wasn't sufficient.

India's fielding exacerbated the situation. They were haunted by the missed opportunities, many of which were caused by Jaiswal. In the first innings, the youngster missed three opportunities while facing Bumrah's bowling, and his costly miss of Duckett resulted in the batsman not just hitting a century, but also adding a solid 149 to it.

Given that his emotions were still raw, the video of him appearing cheerful was never going to be taken well by followers on social media.

The second Test is set to take place at Edgbaston on July 2, and India is currently down 0-1 in the series.
