Yashasvi Jaiswal Faces Omission Ahead of 2nd England Test as Confidence Wanes Post-Leeds Mishaps: Report

One of the major discussions during the opening test in Leeds, where the tourists suffered a stunning loss against England, was India's bad fielding performance. After the opener received criticism for his subpar fielding, Gautam Gambhir and his management team have reportedly opted to move Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the slip area in order to make amends.
On the hitting front, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill all scored centuries in the first Test, while Rishabh Pant hit two centuries. However, India's excessive reliance on Jasprit Bumrah in the bowling area was fully revealed. The fielding, however, also deserved some of the responsibility, as there were several mistakes, particularly on Jaiswal's part. The match's opener, who was positioned in the slip cordon, made four drops, which were crucial turning points.
Along with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair were listed by Revsportz as members of the slip cordon during Monday's training session. The paper also notes that Nair assumed the first slip position as Sudharsan ad Reddy switched between fourth slip and gully. In the meantime, Rahul and Gill also played as second and third slip.
In the interim, Gambhir and assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate were said to have been conducting a separate flat-catching session with Jaiswla. He could reportedly play at silly point, forward short leg, or other positions.
Additionally, the Australian great Greg Chappell lately noted that Jaiswal may be 'low on confidence' since the missed catches were not caused by technical mistakes, or he may also be 'suffering a hand injury'.
"India missed a few catches in Leeds, and both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja were among those involved, but both are usually safe hands," he stated in his ESPNcricinfo piece. The droplets I observed appeared to be just that—they simply didn't adhere. They didn't seem to be very scientific. Even the greatest can fall prey to it. However, Jaiswal seems to lack confidence or have a hand injury. Instead of expecting to catch them, it appears that he's hoping to do so. When he raced in from the boundary for a low, skimming grab, he missed one of his opportunities. In my opinion, it's one of the toughest things in cricket.
"The specialist slip fielder is not getting as many opportunities as he once did with the advent of more white-ball cricket. This only emphasizes the need for catching practice, in particular, to be as realistic as possible.
Following the first Test, Mohammad Kaif defended Jaiswal by noting that the former player had tape on his hand due to an injury, which contributed to the missed catches.
