Yashasvi Jaiswal, India's opening batsman, dispelled any questions about his international credentials with a century in his first Test innings in England during the Leeds opening last month. But the 23-year-old had a miserable day in the field, dropping four catches over both innings, which contributed to India's five-wicket defeat.

The Indian team management made a decisive move before the second Test in Birmingham after the missed catches, which were widely criticized. India ultimately allowed fans and the media into practice at Edgbaston after two days of training behind closed doors, where it was observed that Jaiswal was no longer a member of the slip cordon. He was replaced by Sai Sudharsan in the gully during fielding practice.

In a video shared by Revsportz that covered the Monday training session, it was stated that the team management spoke with Jaiswal at the conclusion of the first Test in Leeds. Additionally, the article mentioned Jaiswal's error on the trip to Australia last season, where he had let Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne slip.

At the end of the film, we saw a glimpse of Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, having an "animated" talk with Jaiswal in front of Ryan ten Doeschate, the assistant coach. The former India batter was seen teaching him methods of short catching. The report stated, "Gautam does not look very happy after that."

Ten Doeschate brought up the subject at the pre-match press conference on Monday. "We always want depth in the catching department," he stated. There will always be four catchers in England at any point throughout the game. Yashasvi has been an outstanding catcher for our team.

"The short leg is also a very crucial position, especially if we're going to use two spinners. Additionally, we want to recruit more men into that role.

"And perhaps give Yashasvi a break from catching in the gully for a bit." His hands hurt a lot. Our goal is to restore his self-assurance.

After losing in Leeds, India will be looking to bounce back in the series at Edgbaston, which is currently 0-1 in favor of India. With India relying on the youngster to get them off to a strong start, Jaiswal will be an important part of the batting lineup, notwithstanding his fielding difficulties.
