On the first day of Wimbledon 2025, there was already a significant shock as ninth seed Daniil Medvedev was eliminated after losing in the first round. As he succumbed to a loss against Benjamin Bonzi, the Russian ace was stunned. In the first big surprise of Wimbledon 2025, the 29-year-old Frenchman secured a victory with a score of 7-6(2), 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-2.

Bonzi's composure and precision from the back court proved to be the deciding factor on the grass court major's warmest opening day in history. His outstanding serving also gave Medvedev a tough time.

Bonzi is now ranked 64th in the world, and on September 19, 2022, he achieved a career-high doubles rank of 121st in the world. During his junior career, he took home the championship for the 2014 French Open boys' doubles. As a wildcard entry for the 2017 French Open, he made his Grand Slam debut. After beating Daniil Medvedev, who quit in their first-round encounter, he went on to lose to Albert Ramos in the second.

In 2018, he qualified for the Wimbledon tournament and made his debut there. He beat James Ward in the last round of qualifying, but he was defeated by Lukas Lacko in the first round of the main draw.

Additionally, he qualified for the 2019 French Open quarterfinals in mixed doubles with Amandine Hesse as a wildcard. He was defeated by Jannik Sinner in the second round of the 2020 French Open.

After winning the Segovia Challenger in 2021, he broke into the top 100 for the first time. In the same year, he also achieved a new career-high of World No. 61. Additionally, he made his Masters 1000 debut at Indian Wells in 2022, where he advanced to the third round, and he also played in his first-ever ATP semifinal. As a qualifier, he reigned supreme at the Moselle Open in 2024 and won his first ATP TOur championship.
