Many believed that the sudden conclusion of Virat Kohli's red-ball career signaled the end of Test cricket. Known for his unwavering passion and deep respect for the longest format—even as international cricketers shifted more and more toward T20 competitions. Kohli had been its most well-known representative for a long time. However, the notion that supporters would become disinterested following his departure was debunked on Wednesday, when a popular picture of a packed Lord's stadium went viral.

Despite London's overcast skies, the Home of Cricket was nearly full for the World Test Championship final between Australia and South Africa on Wednesday. The Kohli myth was criticized by fans when Temba Bavuma, the captain of the Proteas, chose to bowl first in this picture, which immediately went viral on social media. The following are some of the tweets....

Following the first session, South Africa is in charge

At Lord's, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen wreaked havoc on the Australian top order, proving Bavuma's choice to bowl first was correct. Rabada, who had been suspended for a month after a drug test earlier this year revealed he had used cocaine, took two wickets in his threatening six-over stint, conceding only nine runs. He dismissed opener Usman Khawaja for a duck and Cameron Green, who was making a comeback. Both were nixed in the same over, within four balls of each other.

Jansen questioned Australia's decision to push Marnus Labuschagne to open the innings following the Rabada performance. In order to accommodate Green, who was the star of the Boxing Day Test against India last December, Sam Konstas was relegated. He was elevated in the order. Labuschagne's bet failed, and he was out for 17 runs. Jansen concluded the first innings by getting Travis Head out as Australia was four down for only 67 runs.
