Vaibhav Suryavanshi Departs After Fiery Spell from England Pacer, Impresses with Explosive Knock
5 months ago | 5 Views
In the second Youth ODI between India U19 and England U19 in Northampton on Monday, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a left-handed batter, continued to improve, demonstrating a formidable hitting masterclass as a southpaw batter. When England captain Thomas Rew invited India to bat first, the youngster responded by scoring 45 runs off 34 balls.
With the help of three sixes and five fours, Suryavanshi tallied 45 runs. He made a threat to steal the game from the home team. In the 11th over, however, he was let down when Jack Home, a pacer, ended his innings. The left-handed hitter was in despair after being let go.
As he bid Suryavanshi a fiery farewell and urged him to return to the locker room, the young English pacer also twisted the knife.
Assuming the southpaw batter took him to the cleaners, Home's response was understandable. Suryavanshi made 18 runs in the eight balls he played. But in the end, the England paceman had the last laugh as he dismissed the Indian opener.
Following the loss of their captain Ayush Mhatre in the first over of the match, Suryavanshi and No. 3 batsman Vihaan Malhotra helped restore India's innings. On the first pitch he faced, the right-handed hitter lost his wicket.
After AM French's delivery hit his stumps, Mhatre returned to the locker room.
In the first ODI, Suryavanshi makes a strong impression
In the first youth ODI, Suryavanshi captivated everyone with his innings, which saw him score 48 runs in only 19 balls. India was able to chase down 175 with ease thanks to his aggressive approach at the top.
In the first ODI, before being out by Ralphie Albert, he scored three fours and five sixes, which helped his innings.
Representing the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season made the left-handed hitter a household name. He made the quickest century ever recorded by an Indian in the T20 competition when he hit a century against the Gujarat Titans.
Suryavanshi's highest score in the IPL 2025 season was 101 against the Gujarat Titans, captained by Shubman Gill. In seven games, he amassed 252 runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55.
Prior to the IPL, Suryavanshi also played for India in the U19 Asia Cup.
