Reeth Rishya Tennison and Anirban Ghosh, two Indian titans, led PBG Pune Jaguars to a stunning 9-6 victory against their Maharashtra competitors U Mumba TT in the IndianOil Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 6 on Sunday.

The U Mumba team got off to a strong start, taking an early 4-2 lead thanks to victories for international players Lilian Bardet and Bernadette Szocs in their respective games.

In the first match against IndianOil UTT favourite Alvaro Robles, Bardet quickly won Game 1 with a score of 11-1, then he went on to win Game 2 with a score of 11-4. But in a league where every match counts, Robles scored a vital goal for the PBG Pune Jaguars, keeping them within striking distance of their rivals. Szocs, meanwhile, maintained her flawless head-to-head record against Dina Meshref, who made her Season 6 debut, in all competitions, staging a stunning comeback by saving three match points in Game 2 before ultimately winning the match 2-1.

However, when Anirban volunteered for Pune, the tide turned suddenly. He started by teaming up with Meshref to win a tense mixed doubles match 2-1, which he secured with the Golden Point. In a hard-fought singles match that brought the score even at 6-6, he then defeated Akash Pal 2-1. Reeth, who has a lot of experience, defeated Swastika Ghosh 3-0 in the decider, securing a remarkable 9-6 victory for Pune.

Szocs was named Foreign Player of the Tie, while Reeth received the title of Indian Player of the Tie. The Shot of the Tie award went to Akash.

Earlier, at the Dream UTT Juniors, which is a partnership between IndianOil UTT and the Dream Sports Foundation, Dempo Goa Challengers defeated Stanley's Chennai Lions by a score of 5-4, helped by a flawless 3-0 victory for Sahil Rawat and a vital victory in mixed doubles. With Shreya Dhar performing well in both singles and doubles with Trishal Surapureddy, Jaipur Patriots secured a 6-3 win against Ahmedabad SG Pipers in the second tie.
