Traffic Jam Triggers Unbelievable Toss Delay in England vs West Indies 3rd ODI; Shai Hope’s Team Stuck in London Gridlock

The toss for the third and last ODI between England and the West Indies at the Oval in London was postponed until Tuesday. However, the reason is not what you would assume. The coin toss was delayed and the game didn't begin on schedule, even though there wasn't any rain at the Oval and the outfield wasn't wet. The delay was caused by one team arriving late to the site. Indeed, you read that correctly. Include this as one of the strange causes why cricket games sometimes don't start on time.
The English team was seen warming up at The Oval, according to ESPNcricinfo. But the away dressing room was unoccupied. The toss had to be postponed because the West Indies team arrived late to the stadium. Nevertheless, the visiting team was not at blame, as their tardy arrival at the site for the third and last ODI was caused by severe traffic in London.
The official social media accounts of Surrey County also verified the news that the toss was postponed.
"The scheduled start of play will be postponed because one of the participating teams is trapped in severe traffic north of the river and has arrived late. The official account of Surrey tweeted on X (previously Twitter) that the match officials will coordinate revised timings and address any potential impact on the game plan after all members of the playing teams arrive.
The county stated, "We will provide the schedule of play to spectators as soon as we are able."
In the three-game series, England has a commanding advantage
Brook, who is leading England for the first time in the ODI format, has already completed his first assignment as captain. The hosts have a commanding 2-0 advantage in the three-game series.
To help England chase down more than 300 runs, Joe Root produced a masterclass in the second ODI, scoring an unbroken 166 runs off 139 balls.
At one point, England were 133/5. Nonetheless, Joe Root made sure that England didn't encounter any problems and pursued the score to win the ODI series.
After Jos Buttler's departure, Harry Brook was named England's white-ball captain earlier this year. After England's dismal performance in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy, where the team was unable to advance to the semifinals, Buttler resigned.
In 2023, under Buttler, England likewise fell short of making it to the semifinals of the ODI World Cup. Last year, the Three Lions suffered a loss against India in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
