Trade Talks Around Kevin Durant Raise Concerns for Phoenix Suns

As speculation about his possible deal heats up, everyone is looking at Kevin Durant with the upcoming offseason. The Phoenix Suns forwards have already been connected to major clubs such as the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, but in light of the recent news, the Arizona team has been advised to consider all of its options before making a final choice on Durant.

Charles Barkley, a veteran NBA analyst, was a guest on a sports radio program earlier this week, where the discussion turned to the Durant trade rumors. He urged the Suns to act in the best interests of the club while he evaluated the potential. Durant thinks that the team can still get a fair deal out of it despite his age and contract, but he advised the front office to take its time weighing each of the proposals.

"Some people are going to take a chance with him, some people are not," Barkley stated. "Someone may be foolish and give you a lot, but you're probably not going to get a lot."

In addition to six rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks, the 36-year-old scored an average of 26.6 points per game in 62 games overall, despite missing several games near the conclusion of the previous season.

Kevin Durant's departure from the Suns is indisputable, according to an insider, though it is still unclear where he will go next. On the 'Get Up' program, Brian Windhorst told ESPN, "I do believe Kevin Durant will be traded in the coming weeks. I expect them to look into the trade market pretty soon."

Since Durant will become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, the Suns are even more motivated to trade him off for something in return before losing him. Durant signed a four-year, $194.2 million contract in 2022.
