The WWE has released veteran wrestler R-Truth, who is well-liked by its supporters, as the wrestler stated on Sunday via social media.

After 17 years with WWE, the 53-year-old made his departure known via the social media site X.

"I regret to break the news to you all. I was just let out of WWE," he stated on Sunday. I would like to express my gratitude to WWE for the experience, but above all, I would like to express my thanks to each and every one of you who shared the journey with me. Thank you for all the love, support, and respect you have shown me throughout the years. R-Truth's piece stated, "Thank you."

Why was R-Truth released by the WWE?

R-Truth'sHis WWE release came at a time when his deal with the business was about to expire and would not be extended after that.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful corroborated the news, stating that R-Truth, whose real name is Ron Killings, would not be extended his WWE deal.

The conclusion of R-Truth's second tenure with the WWE, which started in 2008, marks the end of his career. Although he spent two years in WWE between 1999 and 2001, he rose to fame during his time with TNA Wrestling between 2002 and 2007.

R-Truth's 17-year career was notable, despite the fact that he never captured the WWE Championship. He gained notoriety as one of the best comedic wrestlers in the business, despite initially engaging with fans by singing his entrance music with the "what's up?" refrain. He frequently caused hilarity in segments and made other on-air performers lose character.

The 53-year-old went up against John Cena at the Main Event on May 24, Saturday Night. In what would be his final WWE contest, R-Truth was defeated by Cena, who then announced his retirement.

R-Truth won the United States Championship twice, the Hardcore Championship twice, and the Tag Team Championship twice. He also won the WWE 24/7 title 53 times overall.
