The score was 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in favor of Kudermetova/Mertens over Hsieh Su-Wei/Jelena Ostapenko.

The reason for the delay

The women's doubles championship, which was held on Center Court prior to the men's singles championship, lasted longer than anticipated. The Athletic predicted that the men's final might start later if the doubles match went on, particularly in light of the chance that a five-set men's final would require the roof to be closed.

According to The Weather Channel, there would be 81°F temperatures, 5 mph winds, and largely cloudy skies, indicating that there would be no weather-related delays.

Sinner will seek to win the All England Club championship for the first time on Sunday, while Alcaraz will concentrate on winning his third straight Wimbledon championship. Only a few weeks ago, the Spaniard pulled off one of the best comebacks in history to defeat his Italian foe in a memorable French Open final.

Since the beginning of 2024, Alcaraz and Sinner have evenly divided the six Grand Slam titles that have been available, with them sharing seven of the previous eight overall.
