Siraj Criticized After Leeds Loss: Told to Bowl with His Mind, Not Heart

5 months ago | 5 Views

The first Test against England saw Mohammed Siraj come under fire for his subpar bowling effort. India was unable to defend a 371-run target, and the top pacer, who shared the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah, only took two wickets in the first innings. Bumrah, who took a five-wicket haul in the first innings, was not adequately supported by him. However, in the second innings, he nearly got Ben Duckett out on 97 but Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped his catch, and he also gave Zak Crawley a few issues with the balls nipping back in for the batter.

Mohammad Kaif, a former Indian batter, didn't mince words when he refuted the idea that Siraj was bowling with his heart, saying instead that the pacer really needs to use his head.

"People say Mohammed Siraj bowled from the heart and put forth a lot of effort. Kaif advised on his YouTube channel, "Don't bowl with your heart, bowl with your mind and with line and length where we can get wickets."

Siraj's performance has declined somewhat lately, despite his key role in India's 2-2 series tie when the team last visited England for the Test series. Because Siraj has only taken 28 wickets in his previous 10 games, his inconsistency has just increased the pressure on Bumrah, who is under pressure to perform with every ball he gets.

‘Give Gill - Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Bumrah’

In addition to evaluating the Indian bowlers' performance in Leeds, Kaif noted that the English batsmen were cautious in their approach to Bumrah, which resulted in him being scoreless in the second innings. He claimed that the hosts tried to keep the scoreboard moving by going after the other three pacers, but the three were unable to maintain control.

"Why didn't Bumrah get any wickets in the second innings? The reason is that the hitters were on the defensive. They launched an assault against Krishna, Shardul, and Siraj. When you are aware that Bumrah will bowl four to five overs, play him well, and your game plan becomes quite straightforward, he said.

The former India batsman confidently stated that Gill will undoubtedly win this series if he obtains the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Bumrah, which is not the case with the current team.

"You give him (Gill) Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Bumrah in the same bowling lineup. I assure you that Gill will win this Test series." He predicted that there would be bowlers who could get 20 wickets.
