Shubman Gill’s Frustration Shows as Prasidh Krishna Leaks 26 Runs After Massive Six in GT vs MI

In the IPL Eliminator game against the Mumbai Indians on Friday, Prasidh Krishna had a terrible beginning as the potent combination of Rohit Sharma and MI rookie Jonny Bairstow scored 26 runs in his first over during the Powerplay. As he was on the offensive from the start of the game, the latter, who was brought in as a late substitution for Ryan Rickelton, showed no sign of nervousness as he made his season debut. He caused significant damage to GT bowlers during the Powerplay, with Prasidh bearing the worst of it, even though he was fired only three runs short of his half-century.

In an attempt to turn the tide, GT captain Shubman Gill threw the ball to his best strike bowler this season during the fourth over of the contest. However, Bairstow completely destroyed what came after.

The tone was established by the first ball of the over. Bairstow, who was standing tall and balanced, swiveled and pulled it with disdain as Prasidh let it fall short, just outside off. The ball traveled for a six over square leg. Gill responded immediately to a clean strike. From within the circle, the GT skipper screamed at Prasidh while making a sharp turn. Under pressure, though, Prasidh was unable to recover quickly.

Bairstow didn't need to be asked twice since the following delivery provided breadth. He took a step back and broke it over cover-point, one bounce and across the rope. Bairstow was briefly defeated as Prasidh attempted to regroup by molding a fuller ball away. However, Bairstow swung erratically over the line in the fourth and got a thick edge. The third guy in the ring was struck by the ball as it flew over him. Six more.

The last delivery was a present that Bairstow sent over long off. The GT players were stunned as the ball easily cleared the boundary.

Watch out:

In Mullanpur, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss earlier and decided to bat. The match's victor will face the Punjab Kings in a fight for a spot in the 2025 season's championship. In the Qualifier 1 on Thursday, the Kings were utterly defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
