Shardul Thakur’s Playful Gesture to Jasprit Bumrah Backfires as India Pacer Declares Victory: ‘Main Jeet Gaya’

Having defeated England by a staggering 336 runs three days prior in Birmingham, the Indian team is in high spirits as they prepare for the Lord's Test. Furthermore, the return of Jasprit Bumrah for the third Test of the series is a significant boost to a squad that is already full of confidence. Bumrah last played a Test match at Lord's in 2021, and the fast bowler was instrumental in India's victory over England. But Bumrah's performance with the bat overshadowed his bowling performance. In the first session, he didn't take a wicket, but he ended up with a match haul of 3/112. However, Bumrah managed to score an undefeated 34 runs from 64 balls with the bat, and along with Mohammed Shami (56 not out from 70 balls), they established a ninth-wicket partnership of 89 runs, which was sufficient to give England a target of 272.
Bumrah still remembers his statistics well four years later. "Shami bhai and I had put on quite a partnership. I scored 35 [34]," he stated.
It would represent the third adjustment to India's bowling lineup if Bumrah were to replace Prasidh Krishna, which is likely. Nitish Reddy took Shardul Thakur's place in the second Test, and Akash Deep filled Bumrah's shoes. However, while Bumrah was getting ready to unleash on England and go full-throttle, he had a nice moment when Shardul chose to jokingly touch his feet as he made his way to the nets. Obviously, Bumrah didn't allow this to happen, and before engaging in some friendly banter, he brought him back to his feet.
This is how our chat went:
Jasprit Bumrah: The Lord is in Lord's.
For this reason, I am kissing Jasprit Bumrah's feet.
Jasprit Bumrah: His greatness lies in that. I'm right next to him. I triumphed in that (I've won).

Although it's doubtful that Shardul will play at Lord's, it might be a good idea to bring him back for the fifth test at The Oval. Shardul's 57 in the first innings helped India reach 191, but in the second innings, he once more showed his consistency with the bat by hitting his second half-century of the game. England had a target of over 350 to chase thanks to Shardul's 60, which helped the lower order come back.
