Portrush: Golf's version of a walkover occurred on Sunday at the 153rd Open Championship. Scottie Scheffler's triumph parade throughout the globe was not interfered with by anybody. No.1 sauntered to his fourth major victory and first Open title.
The American began his final round at Royal Portrush Golf Club four shots ahead of Haotong Li of China, and despite a few uncommon errors on the front nine, the field was too far behind to take advantage of them.
Scheffler's 68, which was his fourth consecutive round in the 60s, brought his total to 267, or 17 under par, and included his two Masters victories (2022 and 2024) and his current PGA Championship.
“Today I experienced a good deal of peace and a great sense of control. I bounced back despite having a hiccup on the eighth hole; every day is a battle, and I performed well," Scheffler stated in a greenside interview following his victory.
American Harris English came in second to Scheffler at this year's PGA Championship and was the bridesmaid once again. The 35-year-old Georgian finished with a score of 66, which included an eagle and four birdies. He came in one stroke ahead of fellow countryman Chris Gotterup (67), who placed third in his first Open participation after winning last week's Genesis Scottish Open, capping off a fantastic debut visit to the UK.
"The fact that I'm playing some good golf is evident by the fact that Scottie is the only person who has defeated me in two majors and this week." All that's left to do is give it a little scrub," said the world. English No. 19.
"However, one of my two goals for this year was to qualify for the Ryder Cup team and the TOUR Championship, and I hope I've gotten a little bit closer to that and that I can break into the top six (in the Ryder Cup Rankings) to secure a place."
Local hero and the world On the 10th hole, Rory McIlroy, who was ranked second overall, was brought back by a double bogey and ultimately finished tied for seventh place with a score of 10-under.

At 11-under, Haotong Li of China (70), Matt Fitzpatrick of England (69), and Wyndham Clark of the United States (65) were all tied for fourth place.
The largest winning margin since 1913 was Tiger Woods' eight-shot victory at the 2000 event held at St. Andrews. However, Old Tom Morris set the record with 13 strokes in 1862. Moreover, the lowest winning score is 264, which Henrik Stenson (2016) and Cameron Smith (2022) share. There was a risk that both records would be destroyed.
But Scheffler was only able to par the second and seventh par 5s on the front nine, both of which were averaging far below par. On the eighth hole, he then struck his second shot into the wall of the fairway bunker, resulting in his lone double bogey since arriving in the UK this year.
The incredible dominance of Scheffler, his good buddy, was honored by Xander Schauffele, who fell to him in the Open championship.
“He is amazing. Schauffele, who finished in a tie for seventh with a score of 68, responded, "He really is."
"Scottie is sort of taking that throne of dominance, and I don't believe we expected to see someone as dominating as Tiger (Woods) come through the golf world so quickly." He is not even on a run. For more than two years, he's been killing it.
"It's hard to beat him, and for the rest of us, it's awful to see his name at the top of the leaderboard."
In the meantime, Bryson DeChambeau staged an incredible comeback with his best round of the competition, a seven-under 64, which put him in the top ten or just outside of it. The LIV Golf celebrity was seven-over after the first round on Thursday, but he finished with a nine-under total after scoring 65, 68, and 64.
DeChambeau addressed the crowd from the massive 18th grandstand following a rapturous response from the supporters.
The Captain of the Crushers GC, which also includes India's Anirban Lahiri, stated, "I was truly proud of the way I turned it around and gave myself some hope in the third round, after I was 3-under."
“I thought to myself, I'm going to try something different this time. I've been concentrating on improving myself, my personality, and my behavior in different situations. Regardless of what occurs, I mentally switched to going all out, attacking like it was the Sunday of a big championship, and that's what I did.
