Despite his struggles in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter, has demonstrated once more why Test cricket is his true calling. The left-handed batter is only the second wicketkeeper in the history of the game to hit twin centuries in a Test match. With the help of 15 fours and 3 sixes, the southpaw scored 118 runs off 140 balls during the second innings of the Headingley Test against England.

Pant was congratulated by Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka for being just the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe's Andy Flower, to hit centuries in both innings.

Rishabh Pant started the second inning slowly, but the 27-year-old left-hander shifted gears once the second session began and went hell for leather against the England attack of Brydon Carse, Ben Stokes, Josh Tongue, and Shoaib Bashir.

After hitting a single off Shoaib Bashir's bowling in the second innings, Pant was ultimately able to complete his century. Sunil Gavaskar kept asking him from the stands to do the somersault celebration, but he didn't.

Bashir ultimately dismissed the left-handed hitter, catching the southpaw in the deep. Pant had previously scored 134 runs in the first innings.

"Two good! Consecutive centuries for @RishabhPant17. Brilliant, bold, aggressive. Goenka wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he was just the second wicketkeeper in history to record a century in both innings of a Test match.

KL Rahul's ninth Test century was also praised by the owner of the LSG. The right-handed batsman hit 137 runs from 247 balls, and his innings went a long way in India, giving England a score of over 370 runs.

Rishabh Pant and Rahul also contributed to a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket. He continued, "Congratulations also to @klrahul for his hundred. #INDvsENG."

The captain of the Lucknow Super Giants was formerly K. L. Rahul. But before the IPL 2025 season, the squad let him go. After the team's ten-wicket loss against SunRisers Hyderabad, Goenka was seen publicly chastising Rahul during a match.

In the Headingley Test, Day 5 promises to be full of excitement

The Headingley Test between India and England is still up for grabs, as the home side still needs 350 more runs to win. England's score at stumps on Day 4 was 21/0, with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett remaining undefeated at 12 and 9 runs, respectively.

Despite having previously been at 333/4, India lost their last six wickets for 31 runs earlier. Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul stood out for India, scoring 118 and 137 runs, respectively.

Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse took three wickets apiece for England.

Earlier in the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul helped India knock out England for 465, giving the visitors a narrow advantage of six runs.
