Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Sudden Yorkshire Exit: Here’s Why He Flew Back to India
4 months ago | 5 Views
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), made the decision to end his time with Yorkshire early. Due to personal circumstances, the right-handed hitter has returned home. Just a few days before their County Championship match against Surrey, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, July 22, at the North Marine Road Ground in Scarborough, Yorkshire head coach Anthony McGrath confirmed this news.
At age 28, Ruturaj Gaikwad was a member of the India A team that competed in the two unofficial games against the England Lions, and he was slated to join Yorkshire for the remainder of the County season.
Gaikwad is struggling with a personal problem at home, according to the Yorkshire coach. Therefore, he has traveled to India and will not be accessible to the county for the rest of the County season.
"Unfortunately, Gaikwad is unable to attend at this time due to personal circumstances. He will not be available to us for Scarborough or the remainder of the season. We hope that everything is alright, even though I can't tell you anything about the causes. We only recently learned the truth. Behind the scenes, we are considering our options. However, since it's only a few days away, I'm not sure what we can do right now, McGrath was quoted as saying on the official Yorkshire website.
“Time constraints are the problem, but we’re attempting to find a potential replacement. At the moment, I can't offer you anything more than that, he said.
Gaikwad was deemed ineligible for the IPL 2025 campaign
Due to a hairline fracture in his elbow, Ruturaj Gaikwad was declared out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season midway through. For the duration of the tournament, MS Dhoni was required to lead the squad.
Gaikwad suffered an elbow injury during the game against the Rajasthan Royals. In the following game, he battled through pain, but he was ultimately disqualified from the top T20 event.
In an IPL season, CSK came in last place in the points standings for the first time in their history.
