Without a doubt, Rishabh Pant, the vice captain of the Indian team, has excelled during the first Test against England in Headingley, not only with his bat but also with his speech.

Pant, who wrote his name in the record books with hundreds of runs scored in both innings, was undoubtedly at his best. On social media, several of his unfiltered remarks on the stump mic are currently trending.

Both teams displayed tremendous power-hitting in the Headingley Test. India hit 471 in their first innings, with Rishabh Pant scoring 134 off 178 deliveries, while England responded with a strong 465. The Indian team established a target of 371 for England after scoring 364 runs in the second innings. In the second innings, both Pant and KL Rahul hit hundreds.

Pant was ultimately judged LBW against Josh Tongue after bringing up his seventh Test century in his unique way by hitting a six that stunned the crowd. Just before he was fired, Pant was heard on the stump microphone informing Ravindra Jadeja, who was batting at the opposite end, that the bowler was hitting him in the same location over and over again.

"He's just hitting the same spot over and over, which has made me swollen," he said, which is roughly equivalent to "Suja diya yaar maar maar ke, ek hi jagah maare ja raha hai."

Pant was observed speaking to himself on day four of the game when he managed to escape a few near misses. "Tez ball hai Rishabh, maarna hai toh seedha lag jaayega naa iss ball pe, kuch alag karne ki zarurat nahi hai (Rishabh, it's a fast ball... you can play with a straight bat; there is no need to do anything different)."

There were a few chances to move the score along, but Pant also regretted them. "Paki hui waali ball. Pant informed KL Rahul, who was batting at the non-striker's end, that he was missing opportunities because he was playing so politely. The ball is there to be hit, but I am being too watchful and missing out," Pant said.

A fun conversation between Pant and Jamie Smith of England became viral on the second day of the game. During one of Shoaib Bashir's overs, Smith was overheard advising the fielders to prevent two runs. Pant said this in a humorous manner, saying, "Yeah, if he gives me a full toss, no twos. He's bowling well."

Another memorable moment from the first innings occurred when the stump mic captured Pant telling Gill, "Gilly, ball ban gaya hai. Banaya hai inhone abhi." Pant said that the England bowlers have the ball swinging in his statement, which was directed at them.

England will face Team India in five Test matches.

From July 2 to July 6, Birmingham hosts the second Test.
