On Monday, two-time World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. In a 15-year career, the wicketkeeper-batter represented India in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is while still playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). At the ICC Hall of Fame induction event, former India head coach Ravi Shastri compared the 43-year-old to a "pickpocket" in a humorous homage.

Shastri praised Dhoni's wicketkeeping prowess and the fact that he still has it, saying that you would never want someone with his talent behind the stumps in a key game since he can alter the nature of the match with either a catch or stumping.

Speaking of Dhoni, the right-handed batter is widely regarded as one of the best captains in Indian history. India won the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007 under his direction. India won the ODI World Cup in 2011, 28 years after the victory, thanks to Dhoni's game-winning performance in the championship match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.

"His hands are faster than those of a pickpocket. You don't want MS behind you if you're ever in India for a major event, especially in Ahmedabad; pay attention to that back. During the ICC ceremony, Ravi Shastri stated that the wallet would vanish.

Shastri also commended Dhoni for maintaining his composure, noting that the former stays the same regardless of whether he hits a century or is dismissed for zero.

"He wins the World Cup, gets 100, gets 200, and gets zero the same way. He said, "There is absolutely, you know, no difference."

The stats speak for themselves about Dhoni.

For 18 months, beginning in December 2009, India held the top spot in the Test rankings under Dhoni. In 2013, he was also in charge of India's victorious Champions Trophy run in the UK.

The record for leading his nation in the most international games belongs to Dhoni. In late 2019, Dhoni, who is considered a white-ball legend, was also included in the ICC's ODI and T20I Teams of the Decade.

In his 90 Test matches, Dhoni's average was 38.08, and he amassed 4876 runs. In the longest format of the game, he also recorded 256 catches and 38 stumpings.

In terms of ODIs, Dhoni scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57. At an average of 37.60, the right-hander recorded 1617 runs in the game's shortest format.

In both the white-ball formats, Dhoni had 157 stumpings. In addition, he made 378 catches in ODIs and T20Is.
