Prithvi Shaw Speaks Out on Move from Mumbai to Maharashtra: ‘A Progressive Step’
5 months ago | 5 Views
Given Prithvi Shaw's position as one of India's most promising and talented young batters, his future remains a topic of considerable interest to fans, even though he has spent a significant amount of time away from the spotlight at the pinnacle of Indian cricket. Shaw is on a relentless quest for renewal and another opportunity at the top, which has caused him to switch from Mumbai to Maharashtra in domestic cricket.
As the Maharashtra Cricket Association confirmed last month that the 25-year-old would be joining the squad led by Ruturaj Gaikwad in state-level cricket, Shaw will not have to go very far after obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association to practice his trade for a different state board.
"I think joining the Maharashtra team will help me develop further as a cricketer at this point in my career. I am really appreciative of the chances and assistance I have gotten from the Mumbai Cricket Association throughout the years," Shaw said in a statement following his move.

A major factor, Shaw continued, is the 'progressive setup' that Maharashtra cricket can provide, free from the burden and expectation that comes with being a cricketer in Mumbai. Since Shaw has lately lost out on his spot in the Ranji team to players like the promising Ayush Mhatre, Maharashtra offers him a new beginning with less pressure to deliver right away
Being a part of such a progressive environment will, I believe, have a beneficial effect on my career as a cricketer. "I'm thrilled to have the chance to play with exceptional players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary in the Maharashtra team," Shaw stated, referring to the players he was looking forward to seeing himself among once more.
After the 2024 IPL season, Delhi Capitals let Shaw go, and he hasn't played international cricket in over four years. Nonetheless, at 25, Shaw still has time to regain his physical condition and mental mindset toward the game.
"We are thrilled to have a player of Prithvi Shaw's quality join the Maharashtra squad. Maharashtra Cricket President Rohit Pawar said that he was looking forward to the move, adding that his addition would greatly strengthen an already skilled team of seasoned players. “Shaw’s international and IPL experience will be invaluable, especially for mentoring younger players in the squad.”
