Pant Likely Out of Manchester Test, Say England Camp
4 months ago | 5 Views
Rishabh Pant will no longer participate in the Manchester Test after the India vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batter sustained a terrible injury on the first day, according to England spinner Liam Dawson. Chris Woakes's delivery was attempted by the left-handed batter to reverse sweep, but he ended up hurting his foot in the process. The batter had to be removed from the field because he was in excruciating agony. In addition, he had scans done at the closest hospital, and we're still waiting for the results.
As seen in the live images, the 27-year-old's foot was severely swollen, and after inside edging an attempted reverse sweep onto his right foot, he appeared to be in excruciating pain. Despite the LBW appeal and the following DRS, he was able to stay alive. But one significant cause for concern was his inability to walk on his foot.
With the help of a golf-style buggy, Rishabh Pant was then taken off the field. India's physio provided him with medical care, and he was then transported to the facility's medical center. The Indian captain, Shubman Gill, also visited him there.
Pant's injury appeared to be fairly serious, according to Dawson, who told reporters after stumps on day one that he doesn't expect Pant to play any further role in the game.
I hope he's fine. That didn't appear all that wonderful. I clearly had him in my thoughts. He is a significant player for them, and I doubt we will see him in this game again, according to Dawson.
Pant was really performing well in the middle, and he shared a partnership with Sai Sudharsan that totaled more than 50 runs. At the time of the event, the left-handed batter was at 37 off 48 pitches. In addition to a slog sweep against Jofra Archer's bowling, his innings also featured one.
After 83 overs on the first day of the Manchester Test, India had 264 runs for four wickets, with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur both scoring 19.

Sai Sudharsan's statement?
Pant was in a great deal of pain, according to Sai Sudharsan, who was at the non-striker's end at the time. The only thing the team management is hoping for is that the scans don't show anything more significant than what is apparent.
“He was clearly hitting the ball really well. If a hitter doesn't return, we will miss him. Therefore, there will undoubtedly be repercussions, but the batters we currently have up at bat are, and there are a few more all-rounders in there," Sudharsan said.
"Therefore, we will do our best and bat for a long time so that we can negotiate that loss well," he continued.
Rishabh Pant has sustained two injuries in as many games. Pant was struck on his left index finger during England's first innings in the previous Test at Lord's.
After that, Dhruv Jurel entered the game as the replacement wicketkeeper, and it's possible that this could occur during the current Manchester Test as well.
