At the age of 40, Mohammad Nabi, the long-serving servant of Afghan cricket, remains in excellent condition and gives no indication that he will be retiring anytime soon. He has played over 400 T20 games in various competitions, representing more than 40 clubs from around the world. Nabi is still participating in local cricket and is now competing against promising Afghan cricketers in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

On Tuesday, at the Kabul International Stadium, Mohammad Nabi made his most recent appearance for the MIS Ainak Region against the Amo Region. The all-rounder's squad may have won the game by chasing down the target of 163 with five wickets in hand and 18 balls remaining.

The game, however, was a real show, as Nabi squared off against his own son Hassan Eisakhil, who turned 18 last month. When the child was brought into the bowling attack, he gave his father no quarter and greeted him in a manner befitting the occasion.

In the ninth over, Nabi was brought into the attack, and he ultimately surrendered twelve runs. But the best moment was during the very first ball, when Eisakhil, a top-order batsman, blasted a massive six off his father's bowling.

“What manners! He is your father bowling at you, man, first ball and he dispatches it for a six,” stated the announcer live.

"This is cricket. Off the field, you could be my father. "Although I have great respect for you, if you offer me something like that, I'm going to send it," he continued.

Eisakhil's 52 runs in the game were the primary factor in his team's total of over 160. conceding 12 runs, Nabibowled one over. The senior all-rounder stayed undefeated on 6 while wielding the bat, and his side won easily.

The video's response

The video is becoming very popular on social media, and there are many different responses to it.

One person said, "It's all in fun on the field." “I like this nepotism,” said one commenter.

Another user responded, "This is insane, how are they playing in the same game?"

Mohammad Nabi was a member of the Afghanistan squad that advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The squad has been represented by him in 132 T20Is, 173 ODIs, and three Tests.

In the 2025 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he also played for the Karachi Kings. He had previously played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year.
