Nasser Hussain Slams ICC Over Siraj’s Punishment: “We Don’t Need 22 Robots”

During the Lord's Test between India and England, tensions between the two sides increased on the field. England's time-wasting strategies during the last moments of Day 3 really shook the Indian camp. The heated argument between Indian captain Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley set the tone for the rest of the Test, and Ben Stokes also retaliated when India batted the following day.

Mohammed Siraj was the focus of the ICC's investigation and subsequent punishment following the Test, even though Gill made an offensive signal and the vulgar language was recorded on the stump mic. Siraj's celebrations following Ben Duckett's dismissal in the second innings were deemed "provocative," and the ICC went on to add that they may have elicited an "aggressive reaction from a batter."

The crowd of English supporters erupted when Siraj bowled Duckett, and the two players had a little shoulder collision. But Nasser Hussain, the former captain of England, disagreed with the ICC penalty for the celebration and rejected the notion that the shoulder barge was planned.

"The manner in which India approached Crawley was one of the highlights of the test match. The England openers began 90 seconds later than they should have! They seemed to get lost in the huge room as they walked slowly down the stairs, displaying their street sense. India legitimately attacked them, which understandably energized everyone.

"Then, Siraj got all worked up. When he's on fire, I believe he's a better cricketer. Siraj would be a great addition to the team. I didn't believe that he deserved to be penalized. He was in Duckett's face, he was near the line, and he didn't push Duckett. Duckett, if anything, moved in that direction to leave the field. It wasn't a shoulder barge. In my opinion, it's a game of feelings that doesn't require twenty-two robots. I adore the tension," Hussain told Sky Sports Cricket.

Siraj suffered a tragic dismissal on the last day of play; despite using gentle hands to defend the last ball of the delivery, the ball rebounded onto the stumps, and India ultimately lost by a mere 22 runs at Lord's.

The following test is on July 23

In the fourth test of the series in Manchester, when India returns to play, it is anticipated that both Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will participate. The next Test is a must-win for India to maintain any chance of winning the series, with the team falling behind 2-1.
